Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate Jason Haufiku was introduced to residents of Okaku Constituency.
PDM leader President McHenry Venaani has called on eligible voters in the Okaku Constituency to vote for the party's candidate Jason Haufiku in the upcoming by-election.
Venaani endorsed the PDM candidate at the party's star rally at Haiyandja in Okaku.
He says the Okaku by-election should be a generational election where young people are given a chance to lead.
The PDM's campaign team walked from one cuca-shop to another and house to house introducing Haufiku as their candidate.
"We are at peace with one another but if we do not vote for change, change will never come, we vote for councillors they do not even come to the constituency they are just driving in their double cabs, change must come and only you voters can bring about change."
Venaani says young people make up the majority of the population - urging the youth to free themselves from the obstacles they face and to begin at the ballot box.
"The people who are going to be the determining factor of the next election are young people, you have seen that we have changed our strategy we are no longer doing mass rallies of tents and chairs we are saying go and get out the votes may the young people go out and get out votes."
He also urged parents to allow young people to actively participate in political activities and to join political parties of their choice.
"I want to urge our parents let us not intimidate the youth who they should vote for it is their chance to vote for their freedom, the suffering this country is seeing we are seeing every year over 38 000 school going children that have failed Grade 11 have no jobs, the next election Okaku is the playing fire but 2024 should be a generational election."
PDM is advocating for among others, a one-family one toilet policy, an improved road network and the provision of potable water to every household.
