A video clip that went viral on social media, showing a fight between a group of male students in grades 8 and 9 at West Side High School, has drawn the attention of the region's education director and regional leadership.

Teachers, parents and learners expressed terror at the fight that broke out on Thursday at West Side High School in Swakopmund, between a group of Grade 8 and 9 learners.

The cause of fighting was allegedly caused by an older learner being threatened by a new pupil, who had only started at the school earlier in the week.

A fight broke out at Westside High School between a group of grade 8 and 9 male learners earlier today at Swakopmund.

It is alleged that the cause of the fight came about when one of the older learners was threatened by a new earner that only started at the school yesterday. 

The new learner was attacked with belt
 buckles causing a massive open wound on the head. 
He was urgently rushed to the hospital by the police. 

West Side High School's Principal, Veneza Rheeder, has attributed the poor examination results to a lack of basic moral values and discipline among learners.

In an interview with nbc News, Rheeder stated that approximately 20 minutes of the 40 minutes allotted for teaching and learning are used to discipline disruptive students.
