Namibia and Cuba have agreed to establish an Inter-Governmental Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.

The government of Cuba has honoured President Nangolo Mbumba with the Order of José Martí, an award named after that country’s national hero.

President Nangolo Mbumba departed for Cuba this morning for a state visit. Cuba and Namibia have a long-standing history of political and economic ties.

The president has been invited by the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

The Cuban Ambassador to Namibia, Sergio De La Uz, expressed anticipation that the UN General Assembly would once again vote overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution calling for an end to the US economic blockade against Cuba.
