SME's and entrepreneurs pay tribute to Dr. Hage Geingob

The late Dr. Hage Geingob was also known for his dedication to fostering small business enterprises, and some entrepreneurs say he left behind a legacy of economic empowerment and community development among the youth of Namibia.

The nbc News team spoke to some entrepreneurs who had the privilege of working with him.

Pinehas Shikulo is the owner of Gweri Vintage Socks. He was among a group of entrepreneurs who had the privilege of showcasing their products to the president.

More tributes and condolences pour in for Geingob

Members of the public, government officials, and representatives from various organisations continue visiting the Geingob residence to pay their respects and offer their condolences to the widow, Monica Geingos, and her family.

Many have spoken about President Geingob's dedication to the development and prosperity of Namibia, as well as his commitment to serving the people.

The late president's memory was honoured by Dr. Utjiua Muinjangue, President of the National Unity Democratic Organisation, at the residence, Casa Rosalia.

The Namibian Broadcasting Cooperation held a candlelight vigil at its TV headquarters on Culinan Street in honour of the late President Hage Geingob.

The event held on the Good Morning Namibia programme in Studio 2 was attended by the nbc Board members, senior leadership of the cooperation, and employees most clad in black attire.

Kaisames FM media planner, Jackey !Gaoseb started with a moving rendition.

Spiritual leader Dr. André September then preceded with a prayer to soothe hearts.

Namibia supports Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2030 World Expo

Namibia has thrown its weight behind Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2030 World Expo.

Saudi Arabia's Advisor to the Royal Court, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Kattan, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on President Hage Geingob at State House.

Saudi Arabia was the first of four countries that lobbied for Namibia's support after it submitted its bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Riyadh.

President Geingob congratulates Vietnams new President

President Hage Geingob says he looks forward to working with the new President of Vietnam, Vo Van Thuong, on matters of mutual concern and interest to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Dr. Geingob said this as he congratulated Vo Van Thoung on his election on the first of March.

The Head of State said the election demonstrates the confidence the Communist Party of Vietnam, the government, and the people have placed in Thoung's capacity to lead the country to continuous development and prosperity.

Five Heads of  Mission present letters of credence to President Geingob

President Hage Geingob has urged diplomats accredited to Namibia to explore new areas of cooperation using the existing frameworks.

The President received letters of credence from five Heads of Mission at State House.

The new diplomats include the USA's Randy Berry, Zhao Weiping from China, Muktar Kedir Abdu from Ethiopia, and Alexis Bukuru from Burundi.

Ambassadors Berry and Zhao are the only resident ambassadors, while the rest are concurrently accredited to Namibia and South Africa.

President Geingob sends messages of condolence to quake-hit Turkey and Syria

President Hage Geingob has sent condolence messages to the Presidents of Türkiye Tayyip Erdogan and of Syria Bashar Al-Assad following the deadly earthquakes that hit the two countries on Monday. 

The earthquake left thousands dead and many injured.

Dr. Geingob send his support and solidarity to the bereaved families, in the wake of the tragedy, that not only claimed lives but also caused destruction to infrastructure in both countries.

The World Health Organisation estimates the death toll could reach 20 000. 
 

President Geingob urges Judiciary to explore alternative funding models

President Hage Geingob has implored the Judiciary to explore various alternative dispute settlement mechanisms to alleviate caseloads in the court roll and to ensure access to justice is affordable to all citizens.

Dr. Geingob opened the Judiciary's 2023 Legal Year in Windhoek a while ago, saying the government took note of the financial constraints.

He, however, praised the Judiciary's resilience in ensuring that access to justice is not compromised.
