The low number of eligible voters registering to vote in the November elections continues to be a cause for concern.

Kadhila Amoomo of Kadhila Amoomo Legal Practitioners, representing the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), has issued a letter demanding the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) withdraw its deregistration of the party.

The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) and the Christian Democratic Voice (CDV) are challenging their deregistration by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) over their non-compliance with the Electoral Act of 2014. 

The first day of election registration started at a slow pace in the Kavango East Region, and Electoral Commission of Namibia Commissioner Gerson Sindano has expressed his disappointment over it.

The National Assembly has announced a recess period from April 30th to June 4th, 2024, marking a break in the 9th Session of the Seventh Parliament.

The lower house will be on recess from tomorrow until the 4th of June.

Officials of the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) are engaging stakeholders in the Omaheke Region on the general voter registration process.

This is in preparation for the general registration of voters from June 3 until August 1, ahead of the national elections on November 27.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia's (ECN) Commissioner, Emmerentia Leonard, has urged Supervisors of Registration to conduct their work in a non-partisan and transparent manner.

Dr. Leonard was speaking at the opening of a two-week training for supervisors of registration at Otjiwarongo.

Swapo Chief Whip in the National Assembly, Hamunyera Hambyuka, moved a motion without notice urging for consideration and approval of Gerson Tjihenuna and Pius Iikwambi as members of the Electoral Commission of Namibia, nominated by the President under Section 6 of the Electoral Act for a five-year term.
