Network towers infrastructure and ICT solutions provider, Powercom, has commissioned 25 network towers country-wide at a cost of 40 million dollars.
ICT infrastructure and equipment provider Powercom this afternoon commissioned a total of 25 network towers: two in Omusati, four in Erongo, seven in |Khomas, two in Otjozondjupa, two each in Kavango East and West, one in ||Kharas, one in Oshana, one in Oshikoto, and three in the Zambezi Region.
PowerCom plans to set up 12 telecommunication network towers in the ||Kharas Region over the next two financial years to enhance nationwide digital connectivity.
There are still parts of Namibia without access to telecommunication networks.
Mupini village, in the Kavango West Region, is one of the areas earmarked for the construction of a telecommunications tower.
PowerCom inaugurated a new tower in Windhoek's Goreangab residential area.
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelenga, who presided over the tower's launch, emphasised its alignment with the Harambee Prosperity Plan's infrastructure development goals.
The Keetmanshoop Municipality has opted to outsource the operations and management of its Oxpass Tower to PowerCom, a subsidiary of Telecom Namibia Limited.
