Reporting toolkit to understand marginalised communities being created

What could be mere cultural practices in some communities is taboo according to the laws of the country.

This is especially true for the traditional practices of certain marginalised communities.

A Marginalised Communities Reporting Toolkit through the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) Journalism Department is being created to better understand these groups and how the media can tell their stories objectively.

The Ovahimba and San communities were used as focal points for the study.

Namibia Archival App launched

The Namibia Archival Application was launched in Windhoek by the National Information Workers Association of Namibia (NIWAN).

The application is aimed at allowing Namibians to access Namibian documentary heritage at the click of a button.

The application seeks to transform the way the public accesses archival information from various archival institutions in Namibia.

Institutional archivists will also be trained to be able to receive and accept bookings from researchers and update 
information in their existing databases.

International Day of Education dedicated to lasting peace

Journalists in some parts of Africa work under difficult conditions

These were some of the sentiments shared by various speakers at the stakeholder engagement on the implementation of UNESCO recommendations on the ethics of AI.

The engagement follows the adoption of the Windhoek Outcome Statement on Artificial Intelligence in Southern Africa last year, aimed at strengthening multistakeholder cooperation and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
