Veteran John Amakali buried

John Amakali, a veteran of the liberation struggle affectionately known as Nakaundule, was laid to rest at the Eenhana Memorial Shrine.

President Nangolo Mbumba granted him an official funeral and praised him as a fearless freedom fighter who made invaluable contributions to the country's liberation before and after independence.

Amakali, aged 73, passed away on March 6th.

MICT Minister commends nbc

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Emma Theofelus, has commended the national broadcaster for its excellent coverage during the mourning period of the late President Hage Geingob.

Theofelus visited the nbc today and expressed gratitude to the dedicated staff.

The minister praised the corporation for its pivotal role in broadcasting crucial events.

Government announces President Geingob's memorial and funeral arrangements

The Namibian government has announced a change in the dates for the memorial and funeral services for the late President Hage Geingob.

Initially, it was announced that Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24, would be the dates for the final memorial and state funeral service, respectively.

However, Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Teofelus has announced that the memorial service will now be held on Saturday, the 24th, while the state funeral will be held on Sunday, the 25th of February.

The Government has announced a change in the dates for the memorial and funeral services for the late President Hage Geingob.

Former Journalist Bernhard !Gaeb Burried

The remains of the late Bernhard !Gaeb, a former journalist at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), was buried on Saturday at Mariental.
 
The 65-year-old !Gaeb, also affectionately known as Ou Berries, died of kidney failure.

Hoandi !Gaeb, spent his childhood in Katutura, and as was practice at the time, he would have been compelled to complete school in Khorixas due to the segregated system in place at the time.

President Geingob attends Martti Ahtissari's funeral

President Hage Geingob has departed for Helsinki, Finland, to attend the state funeral of former Finish President Martti Ahtissari.

Shortly after the death of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Dr. Geingob reiterated how Namibia’s history would be incomplete without the name of Ahtissari, who contributed to the country’s journey to peace.

Ahtissari’s relationship with Namibia began when the former Finish leader was appointed as a senator to the Council of the United Nations Institute for Namibia (UNIN) in 1975.
