The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism has recorded 1,2 million hectares of land burnt by wildfires, totalling 1,300 fire outbreaks countrywide in 2025.
 

The Zambezi Region is facing a double-barreled disaster following the outbreak of locusts in some areas.

The region is already dealing with worsening floods that have displaced residents, and schools have been closed.

The flood situation in the Zambezi Region appears to be under control, based on the latest updates from authorities on the ground.

City of Windhoek Communications Manager Harold Akwenye has clarified that relocating flood victims to Farm 508 was an emergency measure meant to protect those individuals from immediate flood danger.

Emergency Response teams in the ||Kharas Region conducted a simulation exercise to test and enhance effective coordination in emergency readiness and response. 

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on regional councillors and traditional leaders to urgently register flood victims whose mahangu fields are submerged in water.

The call follows the president's visit to flood relocation centres in the Ohangwena region.

The Governor of the Oshana Region, Elia Irimari, says roads in the region have been damaged by floodwaters following heavy rains, proving a hazard to motorists.

To shape the future of vending activities in the Tukondjeni market, well known as Stop and Shop, the City of Windhoek engaged the vending operators in that area regarding their operations.

The city has instructed the Stop n Shop vendors to clean the marketplace by next Sunday.
