Ida Jimmy !Ha-Eiros conferred a State Funeral

President Nangolo Mbumba has conferred the honour of National Hero on late struggle stalwart Ida Jimmy !Ha-Eiros and directed that a State Funeral be held in her honour.

Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros will be buried on a date and place to be agreed upon with the family.

President Nangolo Mbumba visited the family home on April 5, in Keetmanshoop and used the occasion to console the family and extend a message of condolences to the children, the entire family, and the
Namibian people. 

Southern traditional leaders laud smooth transition of power

The traditional leaders from the Hardap and ||Kharas regions have raised a number of issues during their meeting with President Nangolo Mbumba.

These include drought, progress on the Nama and Ovaherero genocide negotiations, and chieftaincy succession disputes.

Dr. Mbumba convened the meeting at Keetmanshoop with traditional leaders to hear their concerns and introduce himself. 

The traditional leaders, while voicing their concerns, also applauded the government for the smooth transition of power to Dr. Mbumba following the death of President Hage Geingob. 

President Mbumba urges stability in Luderitz amidst anticipated economic growth

As the town of Luderitz is anticipating growth in economic activity, President Nangolo Mbumba called for stability to prevail as one of the enabling factors.

Dr. Mbumba was on a working visit to Luderitz in the ||Kharas Region.

The envisaged green hydrogen and ammonia productions are expected to start, and different industry stakeholders are preparing themselves for an influx to Luderitz.

Hyphen Hydrogen Energy's Meteorological Mast campaign launched

President Nangolo Mbumba has launched Hyphen Hydrogen Energy's Meteorological Mast campaign, on site in Tsau-||Khaeb National Park.

The Met Mast is used to measure wind speed and direction.

The wind measurement tower is mounted with various specialised devices and monitoring equipment, which helps Hyphen accurately quantify how good the wind is around Tsau-||Khaeb National Park.

The process includes the collection of data, and the wind measuring starts at 20, 40, 60, and 100 metres every ten minutes and will continue over the next ten years.

Linda Shihepo, freedom fighter, laid to rest at Eenhana Memorial Shrine

Freedom fighter Linda Shihepo was buried at the Eenhana Memorial Shrine in the Ohangwena Region.

The late Shihepo (99), who died on the 8th of last month, was conferred an official funeral.

Her role in the liberation struggle started in the 1960s, when her home accommodated Swapo PLAN fighters.

During her memorial service at Omundundu Village, speaker after speaker reflected on her life journey as someone who stood against oppression and injustice.

Education is a weapon against poverty - President Mbumba

President Nangolo Mbumba has emphasised that education is the most powerful weapon against poverty. 

Dr. Mbumba, in his capacity as Chancellor of the University of Namibia, said this while officiating at the Southern Campus graduation ceremony. 

Dr. Mbumba conferred 170 qualifications on graduates who completed diploma, degree, and postgraduate diploma courses in the fields of business administration, accounting, education, and nursing. 

Namibia's Boundaries Delimitation Commission gears up for election-year

There is much work expected of the Boundaries Delimitation and Demarcation Commission.

This is in line with the Year of Expectations and Elections, as declared by the late President Hage Geingob.

President Nangolo Mbumba emphasised this during the appointment of commissioners for the Boundaries Delimitation and Demarcation Commission.

Article 104 of the Namibian Constitution authorises the President to appoint a Boundaries Delimation and Demarcation Commission every 10 years. 

President Mbumba to commission boundary commissioners tomorrow

President Nangolo Mbumba will commission the Boundaries Delimitation and Demarcation Commissioners, at State House tomorrow.

Press Secretary, Alfredo Hengari says President Mbumba appointed the Commissioners, in line with the provisions of the Constitution.

This will be the fifth Delimitation Commission.

Dr. Hengari says the Commission is expected to conduct an assessment of the current boundaries of the regions and constituencies.

Veteran John Amakali buried

John Amakali, a veteran of the liberation struggle affectionately known as Nakaundule, was laid to rest at the Eenhana Memorial Shrine.

President Nangolo Mbumba granted him an official funeral and praised him as a fearless freedom fighter who made invaluable contributions to the country's liberation before and after independence.

Amakali, aged 73, passed away on March 6th.

President Mbumba condemns terror attacks on innocent civilians in Moscow region

President Nangolo Mbumba has condemned the terror attacks on innocent civilians in the Moscow Region as senseless. 

Dr. Mbumba said he is saddened by the callous terrorist attack, which led to the deaths of over 115 people and injured many others. 

The killing of civilians, the president says, demonstrates complete disregard for human life. 

In a letter to President Vladimir Putin, Dr. Mbumba, on behalf of the people and the government of Namibia, extended sympathies to the families and the people of Russia.
