Green Hydrogen projects to commence by June

The Green Hydrogen pilot projects are in full swing, with some expected to commence by June this year.

The project leaders gave an update during the Green Hydrogen Symposium held in Windhoek. 

These include the Daures Green Hydrogen Village, Cleanergy Refuelling Station, and HyRail Hydrogen Dual-Fuel Locomotive projects.

The Daures Green Hydrogen project, which is close to 80% completion, is set to produce green hydrogen and ammonia from renewable resources. 

Five million Euros earmarked to skill and upskill Namibian youth for green hydrogen projects

The Director General of the National Planning Commission and Chairperson of the Green Hydrogen Council, Obeth Kandjoze, detailed how Namibia spent the €40 million Germany provided last year for the development of the green hydrogen industry in the country.

Speaking at the Green Hydrogen Symposium in Windhoek, Kandjoze said that €5 million was set aside for skilling and upskilling Namibian youth and €30 million for green hydrogen projects.

180 students benefit from green hydrogen scholarship programme

Green hydrogen has made a significant impact in Namibia, and the results of investments made towards this ambitious project can already be seen.

These were the sentiments expressed by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation, Natalia |Goagoses, at the Green Hydrogen Symposium.

Since 2022, over 180 students have benefited from the Namibia Youth for Green Hydrogen Scholarship Programme.

The programme, which is fully funded, is a collaborative effort between the German and Namibian governments.
