The rezoning of Brakwater on the outskirts of Windhoek to cater for residential and industrial projects formed part of the City of Windhoek council meeting in-depth deliberations.

This follows after the matter was brought forth for consideration of an industrial bricklaying project in the area.

Windhoek Mayor Queen Kamati has highlighted several key initiatives driving the city's progress, such as a voluntary house exchange programme that allows homeowners to trade their historic houses for newly built ones.

This is part of the city's affordable housing project. 

The escalating population growth is putting pressure on the City of Windhoek (CoW) municipal infrastructure, intensifying demand for service delivery, and underscoring the need for government intervention.
