Flood Risk Communication Center commissioned in the Ohangwena

The Information and Communication Technology Minister commissioned the Flood Risk Communication Center at Oshikango in the Ohangwena Region.

The center will serve as a platform where information and updates are communicated about the flood situation to the public by authorized personnel, to avoid disinformation circulating.  

Opening the center, Dr. Peya Mushelenga cautioned the public to stop spreading false information.

Ministry of MICT reviews its five year strategic plan

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is reviewing its five-year strategic plan at a retreat that started in Windhoek on Thursday.

The strategic review is attended by staff of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, and representatives of state-owned enterprises operating under the ministry, including the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc).

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelenga, stressed the importance of reviewing its strategic plan.

Kavango-East Regional Council Chair hails development projects

The Chairperson of the Kavango-East Regional Council, Damian Maghambayi, has applauded stakeholders for successfully completing planned projects during the 2022–2023 financial period. 

Maghambayi made these remarks while reporting on numerous successful projects in his constituency during the annual Constituency Development Feedback and Project Review Briefing meeting. 

ICT Minister Dr. Mushelega disappointed with non-availability of broadcasting services in Impalila Island

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelega, is disappointed with the non-availability of broadcasting services on Impalila Island.

This comes after a project to build a tower for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation was abandoned by the contractor more than four years ago.

Dr. Mushelenga, accompanied by the Executive Director, Dr. Audrin Mathe, and MICT staff, visited the site.

He said the absence of a tower on Impalilia Island is robbing residents of radio and television services.

MICT sensitize local authorities on 2022- 2027 Government Communication Strategy

The strategy aims to guide the entire Government communication functions and provides an essential framework to advance socio-economic transformation through effective communication while embracing digital leadership.

Youth social enterprises to be recognised for contributions to sexual & reproductive health matters

Seven youth social enterprises are to be recognised for their outstanding contributions to sexual and reproductive health matters.

The recipients were selected from among 170 applications received by the Office of the First Lady and the United Nations Population Fund.

The competition was the brainchild of Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Emma Theofelus, following her being awarded the UN Population Laureate this year for her work in the population space.

MICT to host a three-day Progress Review Conference

As the custodian of the Nationhood and National Pride (NNP) programme, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will host a three-day Progress Review Conference from 26–28 October 2022 at Swakopmund in the Erongo region.

The NNP campaign is part of the ministry's strategy to enhance nationhood and build a sense of national pride in all Namibian citizens.

Mushelenga reinforces national pride through NNP

A study by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) and the University of Namibia (UNAM) shows that Namibians lack self-esteem and feelings of excessive self-worth.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr Peya Mushelenga, now wants to reinforce national pride through the Nationhood and National Pride Campaign.

Dr Mushelenga was in Rundu as part of his regional participation in the Nationhood and National Pride Programme.

NAMPA & New Era merge in pipeline

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus says the merging of the two-state media houses, the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) and the New Era Corporation is still in the pipeline albeit in an early stage.
