Following the recent signing of the Access to Information Act by President Hage Geingob, government communication officers are convening a week-long meeting towards moving to full implementation, as gatekeepers of their respective ministries and institutions.

The workshop was officially opened by Information and Communication Technology Minister, Peya Mushelenga.

Dr Mushelenga noted that the Access to Information Act is an achievement signifying Government's commitment to democracy and transparency in management and information dissemination.

The Nyemba-speaking people in Namibia are calling for an investigation into alleged tribal discrimination against their community.

In a petition, the group also dismissed accusations that they sought recognition as a tribal authority.

The group staged a demonstration at Rundu, handing over a petition to the Chairperson of the Kavango East Regional Council for the attention of President Hage Geingob.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Peya Mushelenga, has called on Namibians to harmonise their culture as this is the only way to connect people of different backgrounds.

Mushelenga made this call during the three-day conference at Swakopmund, aimed at reviewing the 12 commandments of the nationhood and national pride program.

Dr Mushelenga undertakes the peer review process on nationhood and national pride with various stakeholders.

Speaking during the regional stakeholders' engagement at Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region, Dr Mushelenga emphasised the role of the regional leadership in spearheading and ensuring the successful implementation of the campaign in the region.
