Hulda Kahengombe receives bull from Okakarara Farmers Association

A farmer in the Okakarara Constituency, Hulda Kahengombe, walked away with a bull worth more than N$60,000, courtesy of the Okakarara Farmers Association.

The bull is a token of appreciation for selling her cattle through the Okakarara auction last year.

Farmers of the Okakarara Constituency gathered at the auction pens to witness the handover and participate in the auction.

The prices are low this time around compared to last year, especially for calves.

NamWater installs temporary system to lessen lime levels in Okakarara water

NamWater has started attending to the Okakarara Constituency's water crisis regarding the build-up of calcium and magnesium minerals in their water.

The Okakarara Constituency Councillor Ramana Mutjavikua stated that the build-up of calcium and magnesium minerals in the water has negatively affected the town's operations.

The situation has forced the council to estimate the residents' water bills due to inaccurate meter readings caused by the limescale.

Education directorate, senior political leaders visit Okondjatu Combined School

Senior political leaders and staff of the education directorate undertook a visit to the Okondjatu Combined School in Okakarara Constituency. 

This follows the circulation of images and videos depicting the deplorable condition at the school. 

Otjozondjupa Regional Governor James Uerikua wants immediate action in having the old infrastructure renovated along with other demands.

Uerikua says renovations will be undertaken, and ablution facilities fixed, as soon as a budget is availed. 

He noted that the school blocks were damaged by lightning in 2014.

Ozonahi Conservancy Project finally awarded certificate of operation to address bush encroachment

After a 20-year waiting period, the Ozonahi Conservancy project has finally been awarded a certificate of operation to address bush encroachment in the Okakarara Constituency of the Otjozondjupa Region.

The certificate was awarded by Environment, Forestry, and Tourism Minister Pohamba Shifeta, who said such projects are needed as encroaching bushes hamper agricultural productivity.
