Security guards from Khaibasen Security Services have not been paid for two to three months.
The Namibia Independent Security Union (NISU) has now threatened to take legal action to recover the unpaid wages of the security guards.
Based in Otjiwarongo, Khaibasen Security Services has more than one hundred officers guarding places such as banks, municipalities, and the Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
However, these officers have been doing so with heavy hearts for the past two to three months, as they claim that they have not been receiving their salaries at month's end.
Those who inquired about their payment from the owner of Khaibasen, Marshall Gomeb, were allegedly verbally fired on the spot.
NISU General Secretary Simon Kandondo says the union wrote a demand letter for payment to the security company.
However, Gomeb was not available to receive the letter, but the company's manager, Martinus Uwu-khaeb, received it on his behalf.
Uwu-Khaeb, however, refused to comment on the allegations.
Gomeb, in response, stated that the employees were informed that the outstanding months' wages would be paid during the months agreed upon by both parties.
He further maintained that the workers' claim that they were dismissed after questioning the payment matter is misleading and devoid of truth.
Despite the claims made by the Namibia Independent Security Union, stating that they signed a recognition agreement with Khaibasen on June 13, 2017, Gomeb refuted this, asserting that they do not have any agreement with any union.
