The Executive Director at the Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture says school-based action plans, improvement strategies, and dedicated efforts have paid off.
Sanet Steenkamp also reaffirmed the ministry's unconditional support for infrastructure development and professional assistance for the capacity development of teachers.
At the announcement of the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary and Advanced Subsidiary Levels, Steenkamp implored all stakeholders to carefully digest the results and make a conscious determination to move ahead strategically in meeting the nation's expectations.
In line with the ministry's theme for this academic year, Steenkamp has called for full participation and ownership by all stakeholders in education.
She says a strong and united response is essential to addressing the challenges the Education Ministry faces.
The passion and energy of a teacher are critical, though teachers may be facing challenges such as long distances to school, no water and electricity, or no teacher's housing. They say that despite these adversities, it is important that teaching staff remain focused.
Steenkamp also pointed out the disunity and formation of cliques at schools, which form distractions.
