People from all walks of life in ||Kharas Region united on Wednesday in remembrance of the late President Hage Geingob. 

They shared their most cherished memories of the late President Geingob at a memorial service held at Keetmanshoop. 

Delivering tribute to the late Dr. Geingob, speaker after speaker remembered the departed statesman as a national unifier and visionary leader. 

Governor Aletha Frederick recounted her encounters with Dr. Geingob during her debut in political office. 

She recalls the intense gravity of the moment as Dr. Geingob conveyed his decision to appoint her as governor via a phone call. 

She says the conversation ended with the late statesman asking if she was up for the task and appointing her as governor upon her responding in the affirmative. 

Frederick says her appointment came as a shock, and she never imagined that the late head of state would entrust her with such a heavy political position.

Key to her appointment, she believes, was her first encounter with Geingob at a Swapo Party event held at Keetmanshoop, where she reported party affairs to Dr. Geingob, who was also the party president. 

Leaders of political parties and individuals in the business and education sectors equally honoured Dr. Geingob with tributes.

Locals praised the late Dr. Geingob with poems they recited.

Elders delivered a song praising Dr. Geingob.
