President Nangolo Mbumba has conveyed deep sadness over the death of struggle veteran Idah Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros, who died on Wednesday at the age of 78.

President Mbumba visited the family home in Keetmanshoop today to console the family and extend
a message of condolences to the mourners.

Dr Mbumba expressed his shock at losing yet another comrade, barely two months since the death of a "brother and comrade, President Hage G. Geingob."

He added, "We all have our own histories. We have our records. Comrade Ida Jimmy has a record that cannot be questioned. She was such an imposing figure, with deep roots in our struggle for liberation. She was imprisoned, she was tortured, and nothing could stop her in the fight for an independent Namibia. Our country is free today because of the role that Comrade Ida Jimmy has played. Indeed, Comrade Madam Ida Jimmy was a leader and liberator of the Namibian people. Thus, to lose her is a great loss to all Namibians."

President Mbumba further said that Namibians have the utmost respect for the late Jimmy-!Ha-Eiros as a heroine and honour her legacy of bravery and courage in the face of dangers, be it imprisonment, house detentions, or physical torture.

Dr. Mbumba was accompanied by the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni, the Minister of Justice, Yvonne Dausab, Hardap Governor Salomon April, and ||Kharas Governor Aletha Frederick.
