The Omaheke Region has made some strides in terms of economic advancement, social progression, and human capital development despite challenges.

This was stated during the governor's State of the Region Address.

Pijoo Nganate stated that 47 houses were constructed in various constituencies under the Build Together project, with 64 toilets in different localities fully completed.

Furthermore, under the drought relief programme, the region started with the distribution of food rations to the most vulnerable and drought-affected households last September and thus far covered more than 19,000 households across all seven constituencies.

Concerning livestock assistance, farmers benefited from livestock marketing, transportation, grazing, and fodder.

Nganate noted that the region has recorded a decrease in the number of malnutrition-related deaths, which calls for the creation of sustainable interventions.

"During the 2022–2023 FY, 64 and 213 malnutrition deaths through integrated management of acute malnutrition were reported, respectively, which translates to 30%. During the 2023–2024 FY, 58 and 541 malnutrition deaths via integrated management of acute malnutrition were reported, respectively, which translates to 11%. This translates into an overall decrease in the number of malnutrition deaths (Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition) for the period under review."

In terms of infrastructural development, the region managed to complete the Corridor 13 settlement office, water reticulation connections in Epukiro, and the sewer line at Talismanus, amongst other key capital projects.

Nganate also reported that work is in progress for the construction and renovation of traditional authority offices of the Maharero Traditional Authority, Ovambanderu Traditional Authority, and Batswana ba Namibia.

"Out of a budget of N$2.55 million allocated for upgrading of informal settlements, N$2.51 million was spent, representing 98%. Among these projects, twenty-four water metres were installed at Aminuis Settlement to facilitate appropriate revenue collection by the settlement office. The gravitational sewer line (measuring 395 metres) connecting the central business district area was completed at Tallismanus settlement."
