President Nangolo Mbumba says the Swapo Party and its candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, have been tested and approved as having substance and capacity to deliver economic development, eradicate poverty, and provide jobs.

Dr. Mbumba addressed a star rally at Rehoboth, where he urged the electorate to throw their weight behind Nandi-Ndaitwah and the Swapo Party.

He said the detailed plans of the party in its manifesto are not empty sloganeering but a contrast between what Swapo had achieved over the past 34 years and plans for the next 5 years, if given another mandate.

In this regard, he implored the electorate to familiarise themselves with ballot papers to be used during the voting process.

"Please note that you will get two (2) ballot papers, one for the presidential election and the other for the national assembly elections. Swapo Party officials will be conducting the voter education; please participate in these activities to ensure that your cross is in the correct box, and it is for Comrade Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the President and the other is for the Swapo Party."

The President reassured the rank and file that under the Swapo party, the government is dedicated to implementing a number of initiatives aimed at economic empowerment in the Hardap region.

He further took stock of some completed projects in the region, including the horticulture and poultry value chain development schemes, rehabilitation of 15 water points, earth dams, classrooms, and ablution facilities.

The pursuit of green hydrogen projects and the discovery of oil and gas, Mbumba says, would additionally unlock opportunities in both the Hardap and ||Kharas regions.

"We have positioned Namibia to be a competitive producer and exporter of green hydrogen. This project is taking place here in Southern Namibia and will greatly boost the economy of both the Hardap and ||Kharas regions. Equally, the discovery of oil in the offshore Orange Basin and potential development of the Kudu Gas Field are set to propel Namibia to becoming a major oil and gas producer in Africa."

Mbumba also hit back at the party's critics and defended the candidacy of Nandi-Ndaitwah, imploring the electorate not to be misled by their track records.

"I therefore appeal to you not to make the mistake of voting for those parties and leaders who are promising much but have no track record of delivering anything to the community. Vote for Swapo, the party you know, the party you trust, the party your forefathers and mothers established many years ago to free us from the scourge of apartheid colonialism."
