The Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) has said it remains strong and unwavering in its mission despite the defection of its three senior members to the Swapo Party.

IPC's Erongo Chairperson, Alosius Kangulu, addressed the media on Friday at Walvis Bay .

Kangulu confirmed that Taapopi Shikongo, Shat Dawid, and Christian Kazuvire, who were all members of the executive committee in Erongo, had indeed resigned from the party and joined the ruling party.

While acknowledging their departure, Kangulu maintained that their exit has no effect on the party's operations or momentum.

IPC, he said, remains unshaken and focused while emphasising that the party has been aware of the internal dissatisfaction and conversations that led to the trio's decision to leave.

He claimed that Shikongo, Dawid, and Kazuvire left the party because they could not secure parliamentary seats.

Kangulu emphasised that IPC positions are given through democratic processes.

"The principle should never be a compromise for personal gain. In IPC, position assignment and deployment are based on a democratic process, not on self-entitlement or self-robbery. As a result of those, we have seen them multiplied in hundreds, but in fact, there were only three. The unfortunate truth is that the motive behind the resignation of the three was not ideological; it was centred around personal expectation and self-entitlement, particularly concerning Parliament deployment."

Kangulu also dismissed claims that hundreds of IPC members had defected.

Therefore, he reassured IPC members and supporters that the party is growing stronger through each challenge.
