Although global oil prices have increased, local motorists will not pay extra for fuel in October. Local prices for both petrol and diesel grades remain unchanged.
Petrol will maintain its price at N$20.37 per litre, diesel 50ppm will remain at N$19.92 per litre, while diesel 10ppm will still cost motorists N$20.02 per litre.
The National Energy Fund will absorb all under-recoveries of Namibia's imports of petroleum products.
The Namibia Dollar strengthened against the US dollar during the review period.
From the 1st to the 22nd of September, the average exchange rate stood at N$17.49 per US Dollar, reflecting a 1.2% appreciation compared to the August average of N$17.70.
This appreciation helped offset rising shipping costs by slightly lowering the cost of imports in local currency terms, thereby reducing the extent of under-recoveries.
Domestic fuel prices are influenced by global oil price movements that are, in most cases, high; however, local consumers are safeguarded from paying exorbitant fuel prices through the National Energy Fund.
