The confirmation of Foot and Mouth Disease in the FMD-free zone comes just days before the Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show gets underway.

Ten cattle have tested positive at a commercial farm in the Karasburg State Veterinary District, prompting the Ministry of Agriculture to introduce immediate movement controls on cloven-hoofed animals and their products.

The Windhoek Show is scheduled for next week from Tuesday to Saturday, with agriculture and livestock forming a major part of the annual event.
