According to Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu, not many security threats have been experienced along Namibia's borders in the region since last month, although stock theft is increasing from Namibia to Zambia.
The issue of illegal fishing on Lake Lyambezi is also escalating, and Sampofu says the region's residents are the culprits who employ foreigners to fish for them.
Deputy Prime Minister and International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa, who is accompanied by a delegation of 24 representatives from different ministries, says the meeting is focusing on relations between Botswana and Namibia.
Nandi-Ndaitwa says Namibia regards peaceful relations with its neighbours as a matter of priority.
She noted that the situation between Botswana and Namibia can not be left unattended and it must be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries' traditional authorities and regional councils.
The Deputy Prime Minister held a closed-door meeting with the security sectors and the regional council in the Zambezi Region.
