Several SWAPO Party heavyweights finally made it to the list of the Central Committee after the conclusion of the voter verification and certification process in the early hours of Saturday.
This includes Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, who did not appear on the first list but is now in the top ten of female candidates.
The newly elected top four leaders ordered that a verification process be carried out after an error was detected during the counting process for the Central Committee election.
The SWAPO party leadership tasked the election committee with conducting voter verification and certification shortly after the election results were announced.
Auditor Miriam Dikuua said verification ensures that every single ballot paper is accounted for.
A total of 783 votes were cast, of which 21 for females and 25 for males were spoiled, respectively.
The male list remains unchanged, except that Finance Minister Ipumbu Shiimi is now at the top of the list, having obtained 587, followed by the Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, who was at the top of the previous list.
Other heavyweights, who are on the new list include Education Minister Anna Nghipondoka, Khomas Governor Laura McLeod Katjirua, Deputy Minister of Trade Verna Sinimbo, and businesswoman Martha Namundjebo Tilahun.
Swapo veteran Alpheus Naruseb also made it to the list of the Central Committee members. He is sixth on the list of candidates.
The 7th SWAPO party congress was held under the theme "SWAPO united, marching forward towards social and economic development for all."
