Low groundwater levels of boreholes have left farmers in the townland of the Aus Settlement struggling to secure enough water for their households and livestock. 

People, especially those living in rural areas, are being called upon to take an active role in controlling desertification and mitigating the effects of drought.

As the prolonged drought persists in the Erongo Region, Daures Constituency Councillor Joram !Haoseb says agricultural activities have declined, as most communal farmers have abandoned farming and moved to urban centres in search of better living conditions.
