More than half of Namibia’s working-age population is either unemployed or part of the potential labour force, according to the 2023 Population and Housing Census Labour Force Report released by the Namibia Statistics Agency on Wednesday.
Before the proclamation of Kavango West as a separate region in 2013, the region had been dependent on Kavango East for some government services.
The gains Namibia has made in eliminating malaria are being threatened by inadequate funding.
Even though Kavango West is rich in various cultures and traditions, the Heritage Council of Namibia says there are no official registered heritage sites in the region.
The council is now calling on local residents to nominate sites of heritage significance.

The court is currently out of storage and office space.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs was informed about these concerns during a site visit.
The government has allocated N$2.8 million to all 14 regions of the country towards the hosting of regional memorial services.
Each region received N$200,000.
So far, the Oshana, Hardap, and Kunene regions have hosted their memorial services.
