ǂAo-Daman Traditional Authority nominates new chief

The ǂAo-Daman Traditional Authority has unanimously resolved to nominate Senior Councillor Christofine Classen as the substantive Chief, following the death of the late Gaob Petrus Ukongo.

Classen has been serving as Acting Gaob of the ǂAo-Daman Traditional Authority since June 2024, when Ukongo died.

Namibia pushes for Africa's permanent UN Security Council seats

Road fatalities up 20% as festive season deaths rise

Namibia recorded 488 road fatalities between 01 January and 14 December 2025, representing a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

3,126 crashes were recorded, a 4.2% increase compared to the previous year. However, 5,111 injuries were reported, marking a 1.8% decline.

Most crime categories rise during festive season

Compared to last year’s crime statistics for the festive season period of November to December, most crime categories across the regions have increased this year, with only three type murder, culpable homicide, and protected game products  showing a decrease.
