The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) leader McHenry Venaani has called on voters in the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency to come out in numbers on the 15th of May to vote for Johannes Eiman.
Venaani made the call when he addressed the party's rally at Aroab in the ||Kharas Region.
The by-election to elect a new regional councillor became necessary after the Landless People's Movement last year recalled Gerrit Witbooi.
Vanaani told the gathering that his party remains relevant and continues to play its part in the country's political landscape.
He says that residents of the constituency are among the most vulnerable and neglected.
"PDM is a political party that is mature and can deal with complex matters of development. We are a disciplined organisation that wants to bring social and economic change to the lives of our people. We yearn and dream for a better Namibia."
The leader of the main opposition party says the PDM candidate is known in the constituency and is the right man to lead it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to urge you to go out in numbers on the 15th of May and deliver your vote for a candidate that will bring about change in the Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency, and that candidate is Ricky Eiman. Ricky Eiman is the man who is going to propel the social and economic conditions of this constituency to further heights."
Addressing the crowd, Johannes Eiman vowed to ensure that young people are provided with employment opportunities and that poverty is addressed in his constituency if voted in as a regional councillor.
"All I am saying is give me a chance, and together we can make a difference. I am speaking out of my heart that all those other leaders had a chance, so I am asking you and I am pleading with you, people of Aroab. I know if I can get your support, we can make a difference."
Close to 6,000 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots on May 15.
