Windhoek Mayor Joseph Uapingene has urged fellow councillors to work together and get rid of the 'I don't care mentality' for the greater benefit of the people.

Uapingene said this during the council's general meeting.

The Mayor says that while challenges may not be solved on the same day they were created, there is a need to pull together as councillors to provide development.

He emphasised that despite differing beliefs and opinions, all councillors are required to stand together for the greater good.

The Municipal Council of Windhoek approved the establishment of a township on the remainder of Farm Otjomuise Extensions 10 and 15. They also approved the reservation of a site on Farm 508 for government purposes, which will be used for the construction of a health centre, schools, and a police station for the Samora Machel constituency.

In addition, the Council resolved to approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Municipal Council of Windhoek and the e-Thekwini Metropolitan Municipality. Furthermore, they have approved the City of Windhoek's Integrated Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan.

Uapingene says the lack of cooperation has the power to cripple the city's operations.
