The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture, in collaboration with the National Library and Archives, has established a platform for 74 Namibian writers aimed at nurturing a culture of writing and reading within the country.

The two entities launched the National Literary Festival to celebrate Namibian literature, stories, creativity, and the culture of reading.

The festival's purpose is to promote authors' books and foster a love of literature and writing.

It is a platform where talented authors, poets, and literary minds come together to share their dreams and visions.

The Deputy Chairperson of the NACN Literature Committee, Lise Ehlers, says the event will provide a platform for authors and readers to come together and celebrate literature.

Ehlers says that the festival is an opportunity for Namibians to celebrate Namibian writers who write in different languages.

"Literature is not only books; it is poetry, its relics, speaking with each other and telling each other dreams and sharing that with so many intellectuals and so many children, and I think driven by not only Namibian food or Namibian static but coming together at the National Archives, it is the celebration of Namibia."

The event will promote Namibian literature and inspire aspiring writers.

The festival, which aims to spread writing and reading, will start on the first and second of September at the National Library in Windhoek.
