Residents of ||Kharas Region have recommended that the Fifth Boundary Delimitation and Demarcation Commission realign some constituency boundaries to enhance service delivery.
They made the proposals during the Commission's public consultations at Keetmanshoop.
The constituency boundary changes were proposed for the Keetmanshoop Rural, Berseba, Keetmanshoop Urban, and !Nami#Nus Constituencies.
The Keetmanshoop Urban Constituency office suggested that the Kronlein residential area resorting under Keetmanshoop Rural Constituency be reintegrated back into Keetmanshoop Urban.
Following the integration of Kronlein and Naute Dam to form part of Keetmanshoop Urban, it was suggested to split it into two constituencies.
The Berseba Constituency Office proposed for the villages of Tses, Vaalgras, Blouwes, and adjacent farms to be realigned into a new constituency dubbed Mukarob Constituency.
They also proposed the renaming of Berseba Constituency to Kaiseb Constituency, under which Berseba Village and communal area would resort.
!Nami#Nus Constituency Office recommended that its boundaries be expanded to include the villages of Bethanie, Helmeringhausen, Kosis, and adjacent farms, which currently fall under Berseba Constituency.
A proposal was also made to rename Keetmanshoop Urban Constitution to Zed Thomas Constituency, while a counter proposal suggested it be renamed #Nu#Goases Constituency.
