The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) and South Africa's communications network service provider, Sentech, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at regional collaboration on 5G broadband advancements and its applications in broadcasting.

The MoU was signed by nbc Director General Stanley B. Similo and Sentech acting CEO, Tebogo Leshope, at the ongoing AFRICOM Conference in Cape Town.

AFRICOM brings together the continent's telecommunications community, placing a spotlight on Africa's digital journey.

The nbc was also represented by Chairman of the Board, Lazarus Jacobs, along with senior management, while Sentech's team was led by the acting CEO and senior management.

As a technical support provider and advisor to the Southern African Broadcasting Association (SABA), Sentech plays a crucial role in regional broadcasting initiatives, with further support through Angola's AngoSat-2 satellite.

This partnership with Namibia's national broadcaster is expected to leverage Sentech’s expertise and resources, paving the way for extended reach and stable coverage that will benefit the nbc’s viewers and listeners.

The collaboration underlines the commitment of both companies to harness the potential of 5G technology, further enhancing broadcasting capabilities across southern Africa.
