The Namibian Police are investigating three reported cases of rape that occurred over the weekend in Oshakati, Okatope, and Okakarara.

The first incident took place on Friday, January 31, at approximately 20h00 in Omeege Village, Oshana Region. A 35-year-old woman reported being raped after accepting an escort home from an unidentified individual.

According to police reports, the suspect followed her into her home, where the alleged assault occurred. The victim was able to call for help, prompting the suspect to flee. Police investigations are ongoing.

The second case occurred on Saturday, February 1, around 22h00 in Okatope, Oshikoto Region. A 29-year-old Angolan national was taken into custody following allegations that he raped a 29-year-old Namibian woman. The suspect had reportedly accompanied the woman home after a social gathering. Law enforcement officials have confirmed his arrest, and he is expected to appear in court as investigations continue.

The third reported incident took place in Okarui Village, Okakarara, in the early hours of Sunday.

A 26-year-old Namibian man was arrested following claims that he raped a 45-year-old woman. The victim had asked him to accompany her home from an event, after which the alleged assault occurred. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations proceed.
