The Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations has launched educational material for the Minimum Wage Bill in the form of a QR code, which directs citizens to a website containing all relevant information.

Another QR code that enables citizens to calculate their salaries was also launched, along with printed promotional materials, TV and radio advertisements, and outreach programs.

The launch aims to raise awareness and ensure compliance with the minimum wage order, implemented as of 1 January this year.

The Deputy Executive Director in the Ministry, Dr. Aune Mudjanima, said the success of the national minimum wage depends not solely on legislation but also on social dialogue, transparency, and collaboration among all labour market entities.

"This material supports compliance by providing practical guidance that helps both employers and employees fulfil their legal responsibilities and obligations. It is important, esteemed social partners and stakeholders, to remember that the national minimum wage was introduced to promote decent work by ensuring every worker receives fair and lawful compensation."

The national minimum wage is 18 dollars per hour.

Wages for domestic, agricultural, and security workers will increase progressively over three years until reaching 18 dollars by January 2027.

Domestic workers’ wages are currently 12 dollars per hour; agricultural workers earn 10 dollars per hour, and security guards earn 13 dollars and 50 cents per hour.

"The Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, has instituted measures to strengthen enforcement of the national minimum wage. We said we are collectively in this, and we mean that as well. This will be done within public procurement processes as we continue to innovate and strategise to improve compliance, which drives full implementation of the national minimum wage."

The national minimum wage aims to protect all employees in the affected categories from exploitation and promote a decent living standard across all sectors.
