Erongo Governor Natalia |Goagoses has suggested a reshuffle of non-performing school principals.
This comes after the region recorded poor performance in the national examinations, retaining its 9th position with no noticeable improvement from the previous year.
|Goagoses expressed concern over what she described as a lack of commitment from some educators.
She mentioned that certain teachers wasted valuable teaching time on social media instead of focusing on effective lesson delivery and learner engagement.
The governor stressed that improving education outcomes requires discipline, professionalism, and accountability both at leadership and classroom levels.
"Nothing less than 50% towards the end of 2026 shall be accepted. I shall have to work with my leadership in the ministry to take action to reshuffle the principles to do drastic actions. I'm not sending any threats; we shall have to go down and work already by June because we demand quarterly reports already by June. If I see movement there, I shall reward good performance, but if I see there's no movement, I shall sit with the ministry in order to start changing," she stressed.
The governor also criticized the professional conduct of some educators, describing their dress code as inappropriate for their role as mentors and role models to learners.
She made these remarks during the 4x4 initiative handover ceremony, where school shoes, sanitary pads, and deodorants were handed over to the education ministry to distribute to vulnerable learners in the region.
