Sport, youth, and national service programmes have been allocated a budget of N$750 million.

The funding is aimed at supporting social development and creating opportunities for young people.

Out of the total amount, N$35 million will go towards running youth development programmes.

These programmes include skills training, support for small businesses at the constituency level and access to loans through the Namibia Youth Credit Scheme. Life skills training will also be expanded.

"The ministry targets empowering 1,960 youth through training, financing, and mentorship support. The ministry aims to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, improve loan recovery systems, and undertake a comprehensive review of the scheme to enhance sustainability. It is only through a well-managed revolving fund that this scheme can continue to grow and benefit others," explained Deputy Minister Dino Ballotti.

The ministry has earmarked N$19 million for youth infrastructure development. Ballotti said the funds would support the construction of new multipurpose youth resource centres throughout the country.

In addition, five industrial parks in the Zambezi, Kavango East, Ohangwena, ||Karas and Hardap regions will be upgraded and repurposed.

N$120 million is allocated to the National Youth Service for the training of 1,500 youth.
