Motorists will face higher fuel prices starting at midnight on 8 May 2026.
Industries, Mines and Energy Minister Modestus Amutse announced several adjustments in Walvis Bay pump prices: Petrol 95 will increase by 1.40 cents to N$23.48 per litre; Diesel 50 ppm and Diesel 10 ppm will both rise by 4.63 cents to N$28.26 and N$28.36 respectively.
Prices in other parts of the country will be adjusted accordingly based on transport differentials.
Amutse attributed the increase to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, rising crude oil prices, and other petroleum product costs.
“Namibia imports all its petroleum products and therefore remains exposed to international oil market volatility and global supply chain disruptions,” he explained.
The minister assured the public that Namibia currently holds adequate fuel stocks, sufficient to last for the next three months. However, he warned against panic buying, which could strain fuel stations and create false perceptions of shortages.
