Minister of Justice and Labour Relations Wise Immanuel has moved a motion seeking parliament's approval for the appointment of additional and replacement members of the 8th Employment Equity Commission.

Immanuel said the appointments are necessary to address gaps in representation required under the Affirmative Action (Employment) Act, particularly regarding registered employers' organisations, persons with disabilities and women.

The current Commission began its term on 1 March 2025 and will serve until 29 February 2028.

The minister said some previously appointed members had resigned, retired, or taken up full-time employment with the Commission or were no longer able to participate effectively in its work.

The proposed nominees are Patrick Hamunyera Ntupi, Joyce Mukupi, Ingrid Kalangula, Matheus Shishiveni Hashoongo, Rochelle Wima-Dean, Henry Bruwer, Racquel Handura, Nellie Dina Kahua, Johannes ||Gowaseb, Salome Kambala, Rosalia Gabriel, Amber-Ivana Coerecius and Elizabeth Salome Matroos.

The additional and replacement members will serve for the remainder of the current term, ending on 29 February 2028.

MPs made their contributions to the motion.
