Several people, including a 10-month-old baby, have died in separate road crashes and a violent incident reported across Namibia over the weekend.

The incidents include fatal accidents in Opuwo, Rehoboth and Khorixas, as well as a fatal stabbing in Windhoek. Police investigations are ongoing.

A 10-month-old baby died when a Toyota Hilux overturned on the Opuwo-Etanga gravel road on Friday evening.

Police say the 26-year-old driver lost control near the Okarukoro Village turn-off after another vehicle overtook him, raising dust that reduced visibility. Eight passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

In Rehoboth, Angolan national Tuafeni Inosesiwo died when a Toyota pickup overturned on a gravel road near Banhoff on Saturday afternoon. Six other passengers sustained moderate to serious injuries.

Police say the 24-year-old driver did not have a valid driving licence but tested negative for alcohol.

Meanwhile, in Khorixas, a 20-year-old male pedestrian died after being struck by a car on the C39 road towards Outjo on Friday night. The 27-year-old driver was allegedly overtaking at the time of the crash.
