A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his five-year-old stepson, Wilfred Dantani Eiseb, at Walvis Bay.

A passerby allegedly discovered the body half-buried in a sand dune on the outskirts of Narraville and notified the police.

According to the Unit Commander for Community Affairs in the Erongo Region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, preliminary investigations revealed that Wilfred was allegedly taken by his stepfather from a tuck shop in Johanna Benson Street, Tutaleni.

After a while, the five-year-old's biological mother received a message from an unknown number informing her to pick up her child's lifeless body from the dunes near the Welcome to Walvis Bay road sign.

The suspect is allegedly married to Wilfred's mother, but they do not stay together.

A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
