The trial of Christian Kudumo, accused of killing his wife Augustinu Andeline Chicalu last year, could be headed to the Oshakati High Court.

State Advocate Johan Pienaar says the state is expected to submit this month for the case to be heard at the High Court.

The family of Augustinu Andeline Chikalu handed a petition to the Rundu Magistrate's Court against Kudumo's release on bail.

Pienaar told them that the DNA test results were still outstanding and needed to be submitted along with the case docket to the Oshakati High Court.

The family of Augustinu Andeline Chicalu, allegedly murdered by her husband in Rundu's Ndama Informal Settlement, is opposing the decision of the Rundu Magistrate's Court to release him on bail.

The family argued that five months in prison is too soon, as the gruesome killing is still fresh in the family's memory.

Andeline, who was hearing impaired, was allegedly hacked to death with an axe by her partner, Christian Kudumo, who is also hearing impaired, in August last year.
