TB infection in Tsumkwe concerning

High rates of tuberculosis infection continue to be a huge concern in Tsumkwe Constituency in the Otjozondjupa Region.

Otjozondjupa Regional Health Director Gerbardo Timotheus shared his concern during a meeting with Otjozondjupa Governor James Uarikua.
 
The health director with the United Nations Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is on a week-long visit in the region to assess programmes supported by CDC Namibia.

Etunda Farm Clinic continues to be effective

A multi-million dollar Etunda Farm Clinic located south of Otavi continues to shine. 
 
The clinic, which was built through the Etunda Farm Trust of the Sam Nujoma Foundation was handed over to the Ministry of Health and Social Services in 2017 and serves the farm population as well as anyone finding themselves in the vicinity. 

The clinic is located along B1 road.

The Otjozondjupa Health Director, Gerbardo Timotheus, says the clinic is excelling and is one of the most fully stocked clinics in the region.

Plans underway to renovate and revamp Mangetti Health Centre at Tsumkwe Constituency

Plans are underway to renovate and revamp the Mangetti Health Center at Tsumkwe Constituency in Otjozondjupa Region, which is in a dilapidated state.

This was confirmed by Regional Health Director, Gerbardo Timotheus, following risk assessments done in 2022 .

Timotheus says a budget of more than N$1 million will this be allocated towards the construction, including kitchen and laundry renovations, of the Mangetti Health Centre.

Initially, the center served as a military clinic during the apartheid era, after which Government than took over the- management.

Emergency care practitioners, ambulance drivers' strike averted

The strike by emergency care practitioners and ambulance drivers scheduled to start today has been averted.

Initially, workers have indicated going on strike over the non-payment of overtime claims from October last year to January 2023.

Otjozondjupa Regional Health Director, Gerbardo Timotheus explained the delay in processing overtime claims is because of no authorizations yet given by the line Ministry.
