Man survives crocodile attack in Zambezi Region

A 30-year-old man survived a crocodile attack, though he lost a leg in the Zambezi Region.

Sitamwela Mualuka was approaching the river bank, returning from fishing in the Linyanti River at Maunga.

A senior nurse at the Katima State Hospital, where the victim is receiving treatment, says Mualuka was lucky to receive medical treatment as soon as he did after the attack.

Mualuka, an unemployed Zambian national, has lived in Namibia for many years, fishing for his livelihood.

Twelve-year-old girl killed by crocodile in Kavango River

A 12-year-old girl was attacked and killed by a crocodile in the Kavango River.

Acting Kavango East Regional Police Commander Commissioner Aino Nambahu says the little girl went to fetch water with others at the river.

The deceased was identified as Eleotheria Mashe Ngoma, a resident of Shikoro Village in the Ndiyona Constituency.
 
He says the body was retrieved from the crocodile, by a brave resident who was close to the scene.

Search for rest of body of crocodile attack victim at Rundjara continues

A search team from the Ministry of Environment, Tourism, and Forestry only managed to recover the head of a male victim , who was caught by a crocodile at Rundjara in the Kavango East Region.

It's the rainy season and the best time to fish for residents living along the Kavango River.

However, it is also the most dangerous time, as the river is rising.

In Rundjarara village, there are spots where one should never try to swim, fish, or even attempt to fetch water, as some dangerous crocodiles known to the community are spotted here.
