FIFA rejects Namibia Football Association's request for extension

Global football body FIFA has rejected the NFA's request to extend the country's transfer window period.

The NFA's request, submitted in the form of a letter to FIFA, asked the global body to extend the transfer window to Friday, the 23rd of this month, after the local second period of the transfer window ended on the 12th of this month.

In a reply to the NFA over the weekend, FIFA emphasized that for reasons of equal treatment and legal security, registration periods may only be amended or modified prior to their beginning.

The re-elected chairperson of the Hardap Football Association in Mariental, Michael Situde, is appealing to the Mariental Municipality for assistance in acquiring land under the FIFA Forward program. Situde aims to build a center that can benefit local football clubs.

Situde informed NBC Sport that currently, 90 percent of the football clubs in Mariental are training on gravel fields due to the lack of proper stadiums. He also mentioned that those who do have proper fields demand high rental rates, leading many teams to travel to neighboring towns for tournaments.

The FIFA Football for Schools programme was launched at the Jan Mohr Secondary School sport field in Windhoek on Wednesday. 

The FIFA Football for Schools programme was launched at the Jan Mohr Secondary School sport field in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The idea for the programme was born in Rwanda during a FIFA committee in 2018. It is run by FIFA in collaboration with UNESCO and aims to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of boys and girls across the globe.

Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School hosts FIFA Football for Schools initiative Having attended the FIFA Football for Schools capacity-building workshop at the Soccer House yesterday, facilitators got straight to work this morning as they felt empowered to train the learners of the Immanuel Shifidi Secondary School in Windhoek.

The 3-day programme run by FIFA in collaboration with UNESCO is aimed at contributing to the education and development of around 700 million children around the world, seeking to give every child the chance to play football.
