Farming communities in the Omaheke Region are objecting to the granting of bail to suspects who are involved in stock theft.

The group is of the opinion that stock theft has become a serious concern in recent years, and this has robbed them of their livelihoods.

A group of concerned farmers residing on the outskirts of Gobabis are demanding usable agricultural land.

The farming community sought an audience with the regional leadership to address the issue, as farming within the municipal area is against the law.

The Stampriet Aquifer Uranium Association remains adamant that the proposed mining activity on one of the aquifers that contains abundant and precious water should not continue as planned by the Uranium One group.

The farming community in the Otjinene constituency of the Omaheke Region has called on law enforcement officers not to release stock theft suspects on bail and to ensure that they are given long prison sentences.

Some traditional leaders in the Aminuis constituency are strongly opposed to the proposed mining of uranium along the Stampriet aquifer.

The leaders are of the opinion that they were not properly consulted in the matter.
