The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has started scouting for vehicles to be used in the November national elections.

The exercise, which started on Wednesday, saw a larger number of private vehicle owners turn up at the Otjomusie Police Station for inspection and testing. 

The Manager of Communications and Marketing at the ECN, De Wet Siluka, says the commission needs 997 vehicles to effectively and efficiently carry out the voting exercise.

The testing and inspection of the vehicles will run until May 17th.

The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has called on the party's elders council to remain united and educate the nation on the upcoming elections. 

He made the remarks at the official opening of the Swapo Party Elders Council Regional Executive meeting at Keetmanshoop. 

Mumbala also urged the party elders to embark on a voter registration campaign to ensure that the eligible population registers to vote in the national elections on November 27. 

Ahead of the national elections in November, Popular Democratic Movement President McHenry Venaani says his party is ready to set up a coalition government to govern the country.

Venaani made the remarks at a packed rally at Okakarara.

Venaani described this year's upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections as highly contested, urging the youth to vote for young leaders like him to occupy the highest office in the land.

President Nangolo Mbumba has commended the Namibian Exile Kids Association (NEKA) for continuing to be the voice of the children born in exile at the height of the liberation struggle.

Dr. Mbumba, who is also the patron of NEKA, says the association has managed to bring together members to promote the welfare and preserve the cultural heritage of the struggle through networking and information sharing.

The Swapo Party Regional Coordinator for the ||Kharas Region, Mathew Mumbala, has called on party members to accept criticism positively when canvassing votes for the 2024 national election slated for November this year.

He made the call when he officially opened an election campaign strategy workshop at Keetmanshoop. 

The purpose of the election campaign strategy workshop is to develop realistic strategies and approaches to be applied in the party's 2024 election campaign.

Mumbala further urged party members to defend the party and its leadership in public.
