Ya Ndakolo dismayed at those celebrating death of late President

The Oshikoto Regional Governor, Penda ya Ndakolo, has expressed dismay over what he perceives as individuals making light or expressing joy at the death of President Hage Geingob.

Ya Ndakolo addressed a memorial service held in the Oshikoto Region, at the Omuthiya ELCIN Parish.

Ya Ndakolo suggested that those who feel unaffected by President Geingob's passing, should keep their opinions private and allow those grieving his death, to do so.

He said Geingob should be honoured for his significant contributions to the nation. 

State funeral logistics for Late President Hage Geingob's procession

The procession of the late President Hage Geingob is expected this Friday afternoon.

During a briefing at the Government Information Centre, Brigadier General Remigius Kalimba and Minister of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus shared details about the upcoming state funeral and memorial services.

The procession will start at State House, moving through Laurent Desire Kabila Street into Robert Mugabe Avenue. 

Elderly pay tribute to late President Geingob

The elderly came to bid farewell to the late President Dr. Hage Geingob at the final held ||Kharas Regional memorial service.
 
Addressing those in attendance, the Public Relations Officer for the Senior Citizen Association of Namibia, Anna Joseph, remembers the late President as an advocate for the rights of senior citizens who never shunned away from assisting the most vulnerable in society. 

Zambia mourns Geingob

The Zambian Government has declared two days of national mourning and a further three days of flags flying at half mast in honour of the late Namibian President, Dr. Hage Geingob.

In an urgent state communique dated February 20, 2024, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa announced, on behalf of the Head of State, that from Wednesday, the 21st, all flags must fly at half mast, with Saturday, the 24th, and Sunday, the 25th, strictly reserved as public holidays to mourn the Namibian President.

Late President Geingob's remains to remain in Windhoek for farewell ceremonies

The Minister of Information and Technology, Emma Theofelus, says the remains of the late President Hage Geingob may not be taken to the regions before the burial due to logistical constraints.

"The committee, after consultation with important stakeholders, decided that the body would not travel and that the memorial service would proceed as planned." 

Theofelus, however, assures the public that efforts are being made to allow citizens from various regions to participate in the farewell ceremonies in Windhoek.

Former presidential photographer Maria Namundjebo reflects on Dr. Geingob's leadership

Former press photographer Maria Namundjebo, who worked with the late President Hage Geingob as a presidential photographer, described Geingob as a leader and mentor who motivated her to follow her dreams.

Namundjebo, currently a Policy Analyst in the Office of the President, also served as a Senior Presidential Photographer for former presidents Sam Nujoma and Hifikepunye Pohamba.
