Namibian long-distance runner Helalia Johannes has joined the nation in mourning the passing of the late Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma.

Namibian boxer Charles Shinima fell short in his bid for the WBC Welterweight title last night, losing to South Africa's Brandon Thysse by majority decision at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.

"Some of us look great because we are standing on the shoulders of giants".

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation has extended condolences to the family and friends of its former employee, Japie Beukes, who died last Friday.

The 62-year-old Jacobus Beukes, better known as Japie, joined the nbc as a Telex Operator in 1988.

Employees of the national broadcaster, nbc, have been urged to maintain a healthy work environment as key to creating a high-performing organisation.

As the elections draw closer, the national broadcaster has been training its staff members to be ready for election coverage.

Veteran journalist and nbc's former Radio News Editor, Kaomo Vijanda Tjombe, died in Windhoek on Saturday following a battle with cancer. 

He was 65 years old. 

Tjombe's brother, Nathanael Mbaeva, confirmed the news to the nbc.
